General Anesthesia

Special Needs Dental Care in Edmond OK

General anesthesia is a management technique that uses medications that causes the child to fall sleep and be unconscious while receiving dental treatment.

General anesthesia is administered by a trained professional; at our office, an anesthesiologist provides those services. It is indicated in children and special needs patients with extensive treatment needs, severe anxiety, uncooperative age-appropriate behavior, medical conditions, etc.

Children who undergo treatment under general anesthesia are required to fast prior to the dental treatment appointment.

Your child will be discharged when alert and responsive. He/she will need to rest at home and be supervised by an adult for the remaining of the day.

Specific post operatory instructions will be given by the pediatric dentist.
