Please call us as soon as the accident happens. If it is after hours, our phone system will instruct you how to get in touch with Dr. Garzon or the Dr. on call.
If your child loses consciousness, call 911 or your local emergency room first. Severe trauma to the head or jaw fractures also require going to the emergency room. In our community Childrens Hospital and Baptist Hospital usually have oral surgery services. The imminent medical problem may be more important than the dental problem.
If your childs tooth is knocked out, call Dr. Garzon as soon as possible. Find the tooth and rinse it with water. Do not scrub or clean it with soap. If possible put it back in the socket and hold it there with gauze or wash cloth. If you cant put it back in the socket, place the tooth in a container with milk, saliva or water. Go to Dr. Garzons office immediately.
If your childs tooth is broken, call Dr. Garzon immediately. Rinse your childs mouth and apply cold compresses to reduce swelling. If you find the broken piece of tooth, bring it with you when you go to Dr. Garzons office.
Children many times have accidents. In order to treat an injured child sometimes we have to accommodate our schedule and we may be delayed. We apologize in advance if such a delay happens during your childs appointment. Please understand that your child will also have priority if he/she is in need of emergency care.
